Art Hits the Streets

Oh yes! It's time! Aitken art is indeed leaving the studio and hitting the streets. The tent I purchased in December is now going to be put to good use at three scheduled juried art festivals. My debut into the summer art scene begins in Charleston, South Carolina, which may seem a bit random. Why so far away, you ask? It just so happens that I have three children living there - one being an artist herself, who is participating in the fair along with me (or am I along with her? Hmmm...). You can see her work at Lizaitkenart.com - her new encaustics are incredible. The show is Charleston-Mt. Pleasant Art Festival. We will be there over Memorial Day Weekend, May 26-27th. If any of you happen to be in the Charleston area, I would love to see you!

The second foray into the

festival arena will be none other than the Ann Arbor Art Festival, which is by far the largest art fair in Michigan. It is basically four festivals in one, transforming Ann Arbor with artwork from all over the United States. It lasts for four days, July 19-22 and it is definitely a must-see. I will let you know exactly where my booth is closer to the event!

And then, the summer finale will take place locally, as well, in Birmingham, Michigan - the Birmingham Street Art Fair. I will pitch my tent in the elegant Shain Park area on September 15-16 with more than 140 juried-selected artists. There is also a silent auction tent filled with beautiful artwork to bid on which directly benefits Common Ground, a regional resource helping youths, adults and families in crisis. So if you did not happen to be in Charleston, and you missed the Ann Arbor event, spend an enjoyable September afternoon in Birmingham and look me up. I should be a pro by then!
